Part of my job takes me all over the country, but no trip is more pleasurable than a trip to my semi-hometown, Morgantown, WV. And this trip was all the more enjoyable because of the 81-68 win by the Mountaineers over Georgetown. As some of you know, I work with BlueGoldNews.com covering both football and basketball games doing video of game highlights, player interviews, press conferences, and other related events.
This past weekend's trip from Martinsburg to Morgantown made for a long day, as I made the trip up and back on the same day. With game time at 7:00pm, I typically have to be in the Coliseum 2 hours before tip-off to get set-up and start pre-game preparations. I had a pleasant drive over I-68, although the insane amount of snow that Garrett county, Maryland received over the past few weeks was staggering. Let me say that I did not see any guard rails along the interstate until I got to Morgantown and the snow was level with the first floor windows on the homes that I could see from the road!
Once I arrived in Morgantown, I headed to the Coliseum and found my way to the Jerry West lounge with the rest of the media hounds. A few minutes to get things set-up there, have a bite to eat, then I headed to the floor to stake out a seat for the game (which happens to be at the three-point line on the baseline, opposite of the home team). This was senior night, so emotions were running high and WVU came out playing one of their best 20 minutes of basketball before leading 43-26 at the half. Georgetown did make a run midway through the 2nd, but the Mountaineers were able to hold them off for a win and a double bye secured in the Big East Tournament.
